Each event is opened by one or more ESF instructors approved as forerunners by the Syndicat National des Moniteurs du Ski Français (French National Ski Instructors’ Union).

Each forerunner has a handicap which is calculated with reference to the members of the French National Team, who are the reference point, with a handicap of « 0 ».
The handicap for each competitor is calculated by dividing his or her time for the run by the reference time decided upon for the event.
So it is the percentage difference between the competitor’s time and the reference time. The handicap is expressed in terms of SKIOPEN points.

25 to 35 gates with an altitude difference of 200 to 250 metres

Outside the French school holidays, the Isola 2000 ESF (French National Ski School) organizes a Flèche or Chamois event every Saturday at 2 pm.

The tests for passing the « degrees » for adults and « étoiles» (« stars ») take place during the group ski lessons. Booking for the tests is covered by the lesson prices. The tests for « flocon » (« snowflake »), first star, bronze star and gold star are on Thursdays. The tests for the second and third stars are on Fridays. The results for the morning group lessons can be obtained from the Ski School Office from 2 pm onwards. The results for the afternoon group lessons are available from 5.30 pm onwards.
